Movie that will blow your mind: Blade Runner The Final Cut

Time now for another Blow Your Mind and today a movie I have been dying to tell you about Blade Runner The Final Cut. Blade Runner along with Star Wars is one of Sci-Fi's best films - but it always had some problems. The version that was shown in theaters had a god awful voice over narration by Harrison Ford that both he and Director Ridley Scott hated. Then in 1992 we we given a much improved Director's Cut that was rough around the edges but leaps and bounds better than the theater cut. Now Scott has gone back and fixed most of the problems with the Director's Cut with the glorious Final Cut. This is the way Scott wanted the film to be all along and it is great.

If you have never seen Blade Runner - you are really missing out - it is a great story of a man who hunts "replicants" basically androids that are "more human than human" but with super strength and smarts. A group of these replicants is loose in LA and Rick Deckard must stop them.

The movie is visually stunning and really one of the best examples of Sci-Fi as art that has even been made. The Final Cut makes it even better with tighter editing, improved (but not ruined) effects, and small fixes that you will not even notice.

For a full run down on The Final Cut check out the DVD review from The Digital Bits.

I have The Final Cut on regular DVD and on HD DVD and both look and sound great (the HD DVD version is better but not by much). There is even a collector's edition with all 5 different versions of the film so you can see it in every possible way (the HD DVD has this and I have not yet had time to watch the other 4 versions yet).

Blade Runner is a great film that is now better than ever - if you have not ever seen it or have not seen it for many years The Final Cut is a great rental and required viewing for all movie people. Check out the trailer below...
